Mentorship Service
Launched in 2025, the Mentorship Service supports BEFA applicants in meeting the submission requirements of the Demonstration of Competency (DOC) Application Stage, a critical phase in the certification process.
Eligibility
Applicants who encounter difficulty meeting the DOC submission requirements following the Panel Chair’s Preliminary Review may be referred to the Mentorship Service.
Goal
The BEFA Program assigns the applicant to a mentor, who provides guidance, support, and advice throughout the Demonstration of Competency Application Stage. Together, the mentor and mentee develop and agree on an action plan to refine the submission and ensure the applicant successfully demonstrates the competencies required by the Canadian Standard of Competency for Architects.

A short videos has been created to illustrate how the Mentorship Service works and how it can help applicants navigate the DOC submission requirements.
